Getting Ripa’d

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past week you’ve most likely know the full story, or at least rumblings, of the Kelly Ripa vs. Michael Strahan vs. Disney-ABC drama.  On Tuesday Kelly returned to the show after taking some time off to digest and deal with the news that not only is her co-host leaving, but most importantly that she found out about that change at essentially the same time as the general public.

In the world of PR, everything is built around a message – the foundation if you will of your communication strategy.  When Kelly opened Tuesday’s show she mastered the art of being on message – and of making a point.  If you haven’t seen the clip, you can check it out here.

Bottom line – she killed it. She used humor, emotion, honesty and directness to both make nice and stand up for herself.  And within a matter of hours of the show airing the news broke that Strahan will actually be leaving earlier than was announced last week.  How quickly the tables can turn.
